Network & Service Ops
Join Truespeed, a fast-growing regional full-fibre network provider, and play a key role in keeping our customers connected.
Be part of something bigger.
At Truespeed, we’re not just building a network — we’re building a future where communities in the Soth West have access to ultrafast, reliable full-fibre broadband. As a regional altnet challenger, we’re doing things differently, putting our customers first and rolling out fibre where it’s needed most.
We’re looking for a Senior Network Operations Engineer (L3) to join our growing team. This is a key role for someone who loves solving complex problems, thrives in a hands-on environment, and wants to make a real difference to how people connect every day.
The Role
As a Senior Network Operations Engineer, you’ll take technical ownership of our live network operations, ensuring stability, resilience, and continual improvement. You’ll be a hands-on problem solver and trusted advisor, proactively identifying issues before they impact customers, guiding network improvements, and supporting junior engineers with your expertise.
This is a senior-level role, sitting at the heart of our operations, with opportunities to act as the operational design authority, contribute to the network roadmap, and deputise for the Network Operations Manager when required.
What You’ll Do
Ensure the day-to-day smooth operation of the Truespeed network and its interconnections
Implement and support network monitoring tools and automation solutions to drive efficiency
Proactively monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network issues, conducting root cause analysis and creating PIRs
Validate and review network designs and proposed changes, ensuring resilience and scalability
Collaborate closely with the design authority on roadmap development and change management
Lead capacity planning, ensuring resources and infrastructure meet customer activation and service resilience demands
Act as technical mentor to the engineering team, providing training and guidance
Support vendor engagement, procurement of network hardware/software, and network improvement projects
Deliver clear technical documentation, procedures, diagrams, and reports
Participate in the 24/7 on-call rota, supporting incident response and field engineering teams
Deputise as cover for the Network Operations Manager when needed
Put the customer first in all actions, driving service excellence and continual improvement
What You’ll Bring
A customer-first mindset with a relentless focus on service quality
Proven experience working in an ISP, altnet, or data centre environment
Deep expertise in network infrastructure, hardware, and software, including staging, testing, and troubleshooting
Strong knowledge of optical Ethernet, IP transmission, and routing (ISIS, BGP)
Solid understanding of FTTH optical fibre technology and associated performance challenges
Familiarity with major network vendors and their platforms
Experience with automation tools to streamline operations
Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences alike
Leadership skills with experience mentoring and developing network engineers
Team player with a proactive, can-do attitude and ability to work autonomously when needed
If you’re making do with inferior broadband or sick of being treated poorly by your current provider, don’t despair. Let us know when you’ll be free to switch and we’ll get back in touch to arrange your free installation. We’ll even cancel your existing supplier for you!
